My family and I always have you in our thoughts and prayers. You are such an amazing person and inspiration to so many people. Stay strong and keep fighting! You will beat this. -Katie & Craig and all the Dellos!
It is amazing how insightful “children” can be. Jacquie’s poem is a lesson in life- one that takes us grown-ups a long time to learn, some never do.Choice is powerful.I choose to believe.
BEAUTIFUL GIRL!You are a FIGHTER and I know that is what you will continue to do until you have totally and completely kicked cancer’s a**!!!!!!That poem that you wrote back in 2001 is beautiful and it is a complete testament to who Jacquie Elisabeth Hirsch is: (among many other things,) A FIGHTER AND A BELIEVER!!Almost 11 months you have been fighting this terrible horrible disease… and that is almost 11 months that you have been winning in the fight! Just keep on going kid, YOU CAN DO IT! WE ALL BELIEVE! Your will, courage, strength, and belief have really been put to the test this past week… you have gone through more than I can literally even imagine. and guess what? you are still fighting, kicking, punching, swinging, at this cancer! YOU ARE STILL FIGHTING!!! AND YOU ARE WINNING!!! This can’t get you! This can’t does not define you. This cancer is NOT who you are. This cancer WILL NOT GET YOU! YOU ARE STRONGER THAN THIS CANCER! WE ALL BELIEVE IN YOU 100%!!! KEEP FIGHTING LOVE, KEEP FIGHTING… YOU HAVE THIS!Cause when push comes to shoveYou taste what you’re made ofYou might bend, till you breakCause its all you can takeOn your knees you look upDecide you’ve had enoughYou get mad you get strongWipe your hands shake it offThen you Stand, Then you standyou have this in the bag!I LOVE YOUWE BELIEVE<3 delisha <3p.s. Hirsch’s... when things wind down a bit, and you are able to take a tiny breather... if there is anything you need, please let us know.... a hot home cooked meal, whatever it is. Don’t be afraid to ask! I know myself (and I’m sure tons of others) will be so grateful to be put to work trying to ease your lives a little bit. I LOVE YOU ALL. YOU ARE ALL SUCH AMAZING PEOPLE! You are all proof that love is stronger than anything. WE BELIEVE
We lOVE you all and support you all! Our Heart Breaks with all the pain you are going through Our Soul Prays for continued Strength and Fortitude for the whole family Our Mind focuses on positive energy, thoughts for recovery!!! Jacquie your poem states so well how you are approaching this period. Keep fighting our Loved Hirsch Family !
hi big! i just wanted to say a quick hello. everyone is sending you messages of hope and courage so hopefully you’re getting the point by now. but i just wanted to tell you that i am moving into your old bedroom tomorrow! and i’m soo excited, and kind of nervous because i just don’t think my decorating skills are going to be as good as yours! unfortunately, i don’t have any posters of tink or a border to put around my rooom but i do have about a gazillion pictures of you and me.. soo i guess it will have to do. ALSO i just got a new bed and it’s like a futon so it pulls out into a full size bed… perfect for all that snuggling we’re going to be doing in just a matter of time. hmm i wonder if holly, you, me, ali and our secret future little little will all be able to fit comfortably in my room — i guess we’re JUST GONA HAVE TO MAKE IT WORK on all those alumni weekends =) oh, jac, i am missing you so terribly. i believe in your strength to the UTMOST degree and i am soo proud to be able to say that i know you. love you for forever<3 call on me. -lil sammie
The poem is absolutely beautiful. It is so thoughtful for a then 16 year old to write. Many people their whole lives do not understand this idea, and live their lives miserable blaming others for their misfortune. Jacquie, this poem could not be more right, and I think it is the best thing I’ve read in a long time. Still thinking about you every day, keep up the fight!!! Sarah B.
here there my dear girl, another day, another day closer to you going home healed and well. another day closer to playing with shelby, laughing with ’t’, visiting with bree and aunt sheryl, loving olivia and so much more…all this, you are getting closer to. we all believe and we all send you so much love and strength to you..let it surround you and hold you in it’s arms. rest. know you are loved. aunt val
hey Jacquie, I am praying that today was a good day for you. You are so strong-I know you will continue to fight and inspire us all. Stay strong Jacquie-know that we all believe in you and pray for you each and every day!! Love you Jax~mandz
Hi Jacquie, Get better, get better, get better and feel better and better and better!!!! Love Sara and familySharon: holding a hand from very far away, too far away but always keeping you close and sending good thoughts!!
Dear Hirsch family, I don’t think we know each other, though I did graduate from Amherst HS and surely competed high school gymnastics against some of your pupils (who I’m sure beat me handily! 🙂 I was very touched when I read Jacquie’s story in the Buffalo News many months ago, and had planned to go to her bone marrow donation event; I was shocked when I then learned that she was an SDT with many of my sister’s best friends from high school. I’ve been rooting for her ever since! But I have another secret to share, which is that shortly after Jacquie’s event, we learned that my aunt has leukemia as well. I live in England and felt very disconnected and out of the loop during her treatments, and so often I would read Jacquie’s diary, counting down the days with her and somehow knowing that if Jacquie was doing well, my aunt was too. I’m happy to report that my aunt (who didn’t do a bone marrow transplant) has been in remission for several months, and is just going through another round of chemo to hopefully keep her that way forever! But that made it even worse when I learned that Jacquie’s horrible cancer had come back, and it devastated me to read today that she’ll be undergoing a liver biopsy. I’ll be wishing every day that it comes back negative! Anyway, I just wanted to let you all know that strangers from all around the globe are cheering on Jacquie, believing that she, my aunt, and the millions like them can kick this horrible disease back into place! And I also am astonished each time I visit this site how much support and love you’ve shared and received. You all have a great deal of courage. Here’s hoping that I will someday meet you at Jacquie’s ’I’m cancer-free party’! Until then, I’ll be thinking about you all.
Keep on fighting jax! This is just one more hertel you have to get over, It can only make you stronger, which might not be possible because in my eyes your already superwomen! I hope today is a little bit better then yesterday! I love you very much!! Love always, Bowers ps. I love the poem!
Hey Jax, Although i don’t get to write on your guestbook everyday (stupid mac computers) i refresh the page almost every half hour to check for updates. I just know you’re going to come out of that icu soon and hopefully be able to spend some time home..and you’re almost a quarter of the way to 100 days.I can’t imagine what you’re going through right now and your strength is so inspiring. I’m so determined and excited to be putting together a benefit for leukemia with my moms studio. Not only am i determined to do this but all the people i’ve told about you are just as determined as i am. I love you and i hope you get out of that icu soon(maybe today)! :)-Ali
Oh my love, this is just so unfair. All you’ve been going through since September, all you’ve had to deal with… it doesn’t make sense and it isn’t fair. Frustration, anger, doubt, discouragement… it’s okay to feel all of those things and really feel them. I just pray that you can also feel our love, our hope, our faith and our BELIEF in you. In the power that you have to overcome this – because really even the doctor told you that you are stronger than most! So if you can make it through what you already have, you’ll make it through everything else until you stand victorious. I’m amazed at all you accomplished yesterday – SO proud that you were breathing on your own!! I pray for good results on your liver biopsy – you deserve some good news. No words can really describe how my heart aches for you and your family – nobody should have to go through something like this – especially someone as wonderful as you. For most people it takes something big in their life to really gain perspective – but you already had it as your poem clearly shows and there is just not one bit of this that makes sense or is fair. Keep going – even when everything is pushing you down, please keep going. Keep believing in yourself and your bright future. Lord knows I do and there are thousands of others who do too. Always loving and believing in you, <3 Sadie
Jax and family, i keep praying for you during these extremely difficult times. Your strength is amazing. Thanks for taking time to keep us up to date. We are all waiting for some good news and a step forward in Jacquie’s fight. Keep believing and have faith in the Lord. I love you all so much!
HI all… you don’t know me but I am Michelle Spezio’ s Aunt Kathy.. I have been truly touched by the courage you have all shown during this most difficult time. Please know my prayers are with you… Keep fighting Jacquie…you are truly an inspiration. Love Kathy
GOOD MORNING!! Just wanted to send a little love your way! I wish I could give you all a HUGE hug and take some of your pain away. Tomorrow Sandra and I head to Chicago and will compete (w/Jill) in the Triathlon on Sunday!!! Jacquie please know that with every stroke, pedal and step we will be thinking of you!! (and I’m going to hope that Sandra doesn’t dunk my head under the water and try to drown me) Stay strong…keep fighting!! Love always, Ashley

WE BELIEVE

hi big! i just wanted to say a quick hello. everyone is sending you messages of hope and courage so hopefully you’re getting the point by now. but i just wanted to tell you that i am moving into your old bedroom tomorrow! and i’m soo excited, and kind of nervous because i just don’t think my decorating skills are going to be as good as yours! unfortunately, i don’t have any posters of tink or a border to put around my rooom but i do have about a gazillion pictures of you and me.. soo i guess it will have to do.

Sarah B.
